Li Laboratory

The Li Laboratory is housed in the Engineering Center (ECNW 1B50A and 1B50) on the main campus of the University of Colorado Boulder. ECNW 1B50 is a huge shared laboratory, with half the space allocated to the Li lab. ECNW 1B50 includes seven wet benches for material processing and two fully equipped fume hoods that support most chemical synthesis and solvent-based workflows. ECNW 1B50A houses the lab’s advanced manufacturing and prototyping infrastructures, including a nanolithography system and multiple 3D printers.

Major Equipment

  • A polymer pen lithography (PPL) system (M Series contact printer, TERA-print LLC.) enabling scalable, parallel direct writing of micro-/nanoscale features via contact printing at nanoscale resolution and high throughput.

  • Two high-voltage power supplies providing up to 0–20 kV, supporting field-assisted processing and electrical conditioning/poling workflows.

  • An ultrasound therapy unit for providing ultrasonication stimulation with a wide range of frequency and power intensity, supporting the nanoparticle activation and actuation.

  • Multiple 3D printers, three customized pellet printers, one four-head printer, two DLP printers, and one pneumatic bioprinter.

  • A Berlincourt Piezo d33 meter;

  • Multiple high-precision electrometers ;

  • Multiple oscilloscopes for time-resolved signal acquisition.

  • The lab also builds a customized mechanical actuation platform comprising a high-frequency exciter, high-power amplifier, and a function generator.

  • A muffle furnace (up to 1200 °C) supporting thermal treatment, materials synthesis, and sintering processes.

   Others:

  • an oven, a ball milling, four hot plates; one fridge; one centrifuge; one optical microscope; one mixer; one vortexone hot press and one drill pressa computer station
